A Vodou bitasyon is a family’s ancestral home, land, and spiritual center in Haiti, often serving as the focal point for honoring lineage-specific spirits (lwa bitasyon or lwa rasin). These locations, often connected to the traditional lakou system, act as permanent, sacred grounds where families maintain a direct connection to their roots.
Lwa Bitasyon: These are specific lwa (spirits) attached to the family's bloodline and the land itself, rather than just general loa served in a temple.
Ceremonies are often held at the bitasyon to "feed" the spirits or perform high-stakes spiritual work that requires the specific energy of the family's origin.
In Haitian Vodou, a Gad Bitasyon is a specific type of spiritual "guard" or protective charm tied directly to a family's ancestral land (bitasyon). It serves as a defensive force for the lineage and the property.
Unlike general gads, the Gad Bitasyon is specifically rooted in the "roots" (rasin) of the family. It protects the physical place of origin and all descendants of that bloodline, even those living abroad.
Specific Spirits: It is often associated with the Mèt Bitasyon (Master of the Habitation) or specific Lwa Rasin (root spirits) who "walk" with that particular family.
: These protections are not one-time events; they often require regular "feeding" (offerings) or service to remain active and effective.
In some traditions, a gad can be a small "cut" or "point" placed on a person's skin to link them permanently to the protection of their bitasyon.

Lwa Bitasyon (also known as Lwa Rasin or "root spirits") are the specific spirits and deities that are historically and spiritually tied to a family's ancestral land.
These are the spirits that "walk" with a particular family line. While many people may serve a general Lwa like Damballa or Ezili Dantor, the Lwa Bitasyon is a specific "version" or manifestation of that spirit that belongs uniquely to your family's history.

These spirits are often believed to reside in physical landmarks on the family property, such as a specific tree (like a Mapou), a basin (water source), or a stone (pye).
AYITI AN AVAN AYITIANNAVAN is a charitable proposal aimed at addressing the urgent crisis faced by the Haitian people currently in the Dominican Republic, including those being deported and those in distress at the border of Haiti. This initiative also seeks to uplift the community by fostering an Art Center that celebrates Haitian Vodou, emphasizing the spirituality and creativity inherent in their culture.
